Five years ago, David Gomez, a United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Board Member, was tasked with finding the USHCC’s next Chief Executive Officer. Leadership at USHCC understood that the organization was in need of a revival, and believed that a CEO with a deep understanding of brand management, rebranding, and operations could bring about these necessary changes. David Gomez presented Javier Palomarez and today we look back and celebrate the successful changes which took place after Javier’s placement as the President and CEO of USHCC.
The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is the largest Hispanic business association in the United States. The organization has a mission to “foster Hispanic economic development and to create sustainable prosperity for the benefit of American society.” The USHCC actively promotes the economic growth and development of Hispanic entrepreneurs and represents the interests of 3.2 million Hispanic-owned businesses across the United States that together contribute in excess of $468 billion to the American economy each year. The USHCC also serves as the umbrella organization for more than 200 local Hispanic chambers and business associations in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Javier’s superlative leadership has not gone without notice. Since his placement, he has appeared on Latino Leaders Magazine’s “100 Most Influential” list and was named one of the “75 Most Influential Hispanics”. He has been acknowledged as one of the “Top 100 Green CEOs” by PODER Magazine and was featured in Spain’s leading daily news outlet El Pais. The British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) named Javier in the “Ten Latinos Who Made History in 2012.”
Within the last five years, Javier has breathed new life into the organization. His most notable contributions include an increase in USHCC’s return on investment, expansion of corporate sponsorship to an all-time high, total depletion of organizational debt, and the reengagement of local chamber of the USHCC.
Within the past five years, numerous chambers have been acknowledged at the USHCC National Convention for their exceptional local services. This annual convention is officially the largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders in American history. Additionally, the USHCC National Convention is the largest gathering of its kind with a staggering 6,000 attendees roughly each year. Notable speakers who have attended the convention include Nancy Pelosi, Mitt Romney, former president George W. Bush, and President Barack Obama.
